Municpal Services
THE MUNS TEAM SPEND A LOT OF TIME WORKING TO BEAUTIFY THE COMMUNITY GROUNDS. WE HAVE EMPLOYED A DEDICATED WORKER TO TAKE CARE OF THE NURSERY AND MAINTAIN OUR PARKS AND GARDENS. ALONG WITH CREATING AND MAINTAINING PUBLIC GARDENS AND GREEN SPACES, FROM 2025 WE SET UP A PROGRAM TO REMOVE ALL THE BROKEN DOWN CARS FROM COMMUNITY SPACES.

The Municipal (MUNS) program is partly funded by the state government (DAC contributes $500,000 plus per annum) to provide basic municipal services such as rubbish collection, parks and gardens, roads, including firebreaks and waste facility management.
Three full time employees and approx. 12 casual employees work in this service.
We undertook works to provide much needed improvements work at the workshop in 2024. This work included installing concrete pads, eye wash and shower stations and building a brand new toilet block for staff.
We now have 2 car trailers and the MUNS crew are regularly providing transport into Broome for communities across the Dampier Peninsula. We offer this as a service, and it is cheaper than similar services in the area with Djarindjin Community residents entitled to a further discount.
Our Nursery

With funding from Water Corporation, we have had some refurbishments done on our Nursery. Thank you to Argosee Greenhouse Technology for the design and construction of this project and to Lewis Upton from Water Corporation for being the project lead on this and a number of other projects in Djarindjin. The Nursery is coming along nicely. It is up and running and we are propagating plants and providing some fresh produce to the community. The DAC Board have determined that the nursery will primarily be a social enterprise, only select items will be sold for profit which will help purchase seeds and the upkeep of the nursery.
OUR CHSP (AGED CARE) TEAM, KIMBERLEY POPULATION HEALTH UNIT AND OTHERS HAVE EXPRESSED INTEREST IN USING OUR PRODUCE TO PROVIDE NUTRITIOUS MEALS TO MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY. THIS ALIGNS NICELY WITH OUR HEALTH POLICY.
