Choosing Your Way
DJARINDJIN ABORIGINAL CORPORATION HAS BEEN RUNNING THE CHOOSING YOUR WAY PROGRAM SINCE 2020. CHOOSING YOUR WAY PROVIDES TEACHING FOR PARTICIPANTS TO HELP THEM REACH A PERSONAL GOAL.
The primary aim of the ‘Choosing Your Way’ training model is to meet our participants where they are in their learning journey and develop a self-paced individual learning plan for them, so they are able to develop their skills to achieve goals they have identified for themselves.
The Project also works with employers and potential employers to identify employment opportunities available to them now and over time, based on their assessed aptitude. The Project team will help develop specific skills based on real-life materials they will encounter in potential work environments.
Employers and potential employers also have the opportunity to provide direction as to where they will have opportunities to employ people and where the LLND skills are required to be developed.

CHOOSING YOUR WAY SUPPORTS PARTICIPANTS TO ENTER THE WORKFORCE
The Choosing Your Way Program provides language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills training to adults in a way that is tailored, flexible, and relevant to the community. With limited access to education and support in regional and remote Western Australia, we are helping our local communities bridge educational gaps in order to gain better access to work and study.
Choosing Your Way benefits both employers and participants in the local community by helping people build their skills to meet employers’ needs and expectations, and secure long-term, sustainable work.
We have supported participants in Ardyaloon, Beagle Bay, Djarindjin, and Lombadina to improve their skills to reach their study, career, and personal goals. This has included helping with aviation qualifications, coxswain qualifications, learner’s permits, digital skills training, and more.
We would like to partner with local employers to incorporate desirable skills into our training so that our participants have better access to long-term employment.
